Chiropractic Remains Drugless

Dear Doctor:

If you’ve been watching the chiropractic media, you probably know that there has been a movement in New Mexico to expand the chiropractic license to include the use of drugs. This effort was defeated this past week, largely due to the grass roots efforts of local chiropractors, reinforced by expert testimony from Drs. Guy Riekeman and Gerry Clum on behalf of preserving the stature of chiropractic as the world’s largest drugless healing profession. To most chiropractors, such overly progressive intentions are heresy – it is woven into the very fabric of our existence to rely on things natural, to help restore the body’s inherent ability to heal, so it can make whatever chemicals it needs to function properly, given sufficient raw materials. Wanting to bring drugs into that process misinterprets and distorts the purpose of the chiropractic intervention.
